Why RisePerformance exists
RisePerformance was created to introduce basketball to everyone within the local community, and to give more people the chance to experience and enjoy the sport. The goal is simple: make basketball more accessible, more enjoyable and more inclusive — particularly for young people and community groups who might not otherwise get the chance to play.
That's part of a bigger picture too. Basketball is growing fast, not just here locally but right across Northern Ireland — from grassroots clubs to a national team making real strides on the international stage. See how the game is growing across NI →
Behind RisePerformance is several years of coaching experience. Alongside running RisePerformance, Cailean also works as a multi-sport coach with ABC Council, delivering coaching sessions across a range of sports and groups throughout the community.

Basketball is bigger in Northern Ireland than people think
Belfast Star
Founded in 1964, Belfast Star is the only Northern Ireland-based club in the Super League — the island of Ireland's top division — and has won three national championships. Like most Super League clubs, they've recruited loads of overseas players down through the years to strengthen the squad.
Come down and watch them play at Newforge Sports Complex in Belfast — follow Instagram or Facebook for fixtures.
NI 3x3
Basketball NI's senior men's 3x3 team reached the final of the 2026 Commonwealth Games qualifier in Manchester this May, beating Wales and the Isle of Man before narrowly losing 21-9 to England in the final.

CJ Fulton
Former Belfast Star player CJ Fulton signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2025 — the first Irish-developed player ever to sign an NBA contract.
